Ministerial Decree 270/04 makes the Initial Preparation Assessment (VPI) mandatory for students enrolling in an open-admission bachelor’s degree program. The VPI is administered via a multiple-choice test that in no way precludes enrollment in the chosen degree program, since it is NOT an ADMISSION SELECTION TEST, BUT is MANDATORY to complete the enrollment process.
Registration for the test takes place at the same time as enrollment in the degree program.
Registration for the initial proficiency exam requires payment of a fee of 37.00 euros, which can be viewed in the “Payments” section of the ESSE3 procedure.
There are usually several dates scheduled for the initial placement tests; however, in order to take the test, you must have completed your enrollment by paying the required fees (enrollment fee of 160.00 and PVI registration fee of 37.00 euros).
Test appointments can be made through the website dedicated to the Esse3 Portal within 7 days of the scheduled date of the PVI.
If the student fails the exam, he or she will be assigned an additional educational requirement (O.F.A.), which may include remedial work and additional exams to be taken within the first year of enrollment.
Information about the dates and procedures for the PVI exams can be found on the websites of each relevant department.
