The University of Foggia has activated a support service for international PhD.
The service, activated by the International Relations Area, is called International Students Buddy/ Happy To Help.
The PhD Programme is a postgraduate programme, at the end of which the highest academic qualification in the Italian university system is awarded. It is a highly specialised programme, aimed at providing the necessary skills to carry out highly qualified research activities at universities, public bodies or private entities.
Admission to PhD programmes is open to holders of a second-cycle degree programme or a degree awarded in accordance with the previous regulations or an equivalent qualification awarded by foreign universities.
Admission to the PhD Programme is based on a public selection process, which is held at least once a year.
Consulting the list of Corsi di Dottorato offered by the University of Foggia.
- Carefully read the call for applications (PhD notice) for the programme you are interested in.
- Check the Regolamento Tasse e Contributi .
- After reading the call, log in to Esse3 .
- Prepare all the required documents.
The selection process may be conducted:
- By qualifications only

If you are admitted, you must complete immatricolazione su Esse3 within the deadlines and according to the procedures specified in the call.
To complete the process correctly, follow the Enrollment Guidelines and use Modulistica available in the designated section.
The PhD programme includes a mandatory training period abroad.
To activate the international mobility period, PhD candidates must complete the Autorizzazione periodo di formazione all'estero form and the form Richiesta elevazione borsa di studio, and send both documents to the following email addresses: [email protected] and [email protected] .
In order to receive the scholarship increase, once the PhD candidate has arrived at the host institution abroad, they must submit a document certifying the start of the activity.
The additional amount related to the period abroad will be credited in the monthly payment following the departure.
At the end of the mobility period, a document certifying the end of the activity must also be submitted.

Note: As provided by Article 23 of the PhD Programme Regulations, the host institution abroad must be “identified in agreement with the supervisor and authorised by the PhD Academic Board.”
Authorization must be requested by filling out the modulo di autorizzazione estero, which must be digitally signed by the supervisor and then sent to the PhD Programme Coordinator, [email protected] and [email protected] .
PNRR PhD Candidates
For PhD candidates holding a scholarship funded under DM 351/2022, DM 352/2022, DM 118/2023, and DM 117/2023, a partnership agreement with the foreign institution must be duly completed and signed.
This template is provided by the PhD Programme Coordinator, who is responsible for submitting it for approval by the PhD Academic Board.
The completion and submission of the signed agreement to [email protected] is mandatory for the proper reporting of the international study and research period on the MUR (Italian Ministry of University and Research) portal.
