General contents
The H-DIA Winter School is a training opportunity dedicated to PhD students, aimed at exploring the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the education and communication fields.
The event offers an advanced perspective on how AI is transforming both teaching and learning processes, with a focus on innovative teaching tools and practical solutions for educational inclusion. Through theoretical sessions, practical workshops, a round table, and a mini hackathon, the participants will have the opportunity to interact with experts in the field, explore new skills, and acquire knowledge of AI tools aimed at producing innovative content so as to make education more accessible and customised.
The H-DIA Winter School offers a series of relevant contributions to one’s educational development, as follows:
1. Consolidating professional profiles: the Winter School enables participants to develop transversal skills encompassing the fields of artificial intelligence, scientific communication and academic tuition. PhD students from different disciplinary areas will be able to enrich their professional background with technological and pedagogical skills, strengthening their profiles in the educational, technological and communication sectors and responding to the needs of the current and future labour market.
2. Meeting cultural and educational needs: the Winter School responds to a growing need for up-to-date knowledge in the areas of AI, educational inclusion and customised tuition, which are key elements of an educational institution at local, national and international level. By providing insights into emerging and innovative fields of study, the event enables the participants to keep pace with the rapid changes taking place in digital society, offering continuing education opportunities that respond to a growing demand for technological and intercultural skills.
3. Training highly specialised professionals: the interdisciplinary approach of the Winter School contributes to the training and formation of experts with a strong international orientation, ready to respond to global challenges related to digitalisation and inclusion. The participants will acquire specific skills in AI applied to tuition and communication, as specialised professionals capable of operating in innovative and multicultural educational contexts and contributing to the development of inclusive solutions on a global scale.
4. Enhancing professionalism and research traineeship: through theoretical and practical sessions, the participants are encouraged to develop advanced analytical and practical research skills. Interaction with experts and discussion during dedicated workshops will enable PhD students to refine their applied research skills, contributing to the development of their professional expertise while fostering a critical and innovative approach to the use of AI in teaching and learning processes.
Learning objectives
The Course offers the participants an educational training programme consisting of different and integrated formats, structured as follows:
- Lectures: 10 hours
- Workshops: 1.5 hours
- Practical Exercises: 1 hour
Attendance of at least 9 hours of the Course is compulsory.
At the end of the training activities, the participants are required to undergo a final assessment, consisting of the presentation of a summary of the work carried out during the three days of the Winter School, with particular reference to the activities undertaken in the workshops and practical sessions.
To be admitted to the final assessment, candidates must submit a specific application, along with the payment of the relevant virtual stamp duty (€32.00), through the PagoPA system, by accessing their personal page under the section Secretariat → Payments.
The participants who attend the Course and pass the final examination will be awarded a
Participation Certificate.
Admission requirements
The Winter School is open to all those holding a Master's Degree or a Specialist Degree obtained under the regulations preceding Ministerial Decree 509/99 or an equivalent qualification.
An additional requirement is current enrolment in a PhD programme.
