Rehabilitation of Pelvic and Perineal Dysfunctions

The Level I Master’s Program in “Rehabilitation of Pelvic and Perineal Dysfunctions” is divided into 15 modules that will cover the following topics:

• Module 2 – Multidisciplinary Clinical Approaches Related to Pelvic and Perineal Physical Therapy
• Module 3 - Research Methodology in Rehabilitation
• Module 4 – Rehabilitation for Urological Disorders
• Module 5 – Rehabilitation for Urogynecological Disorders
• Module 6 – Rehabilitation for Colonic and Rectal Disorders
• Module 7 – Rehabilitation for Neurological Perineal Disorders
• Module 8 – Rehabilitation for Perineal Disorders in Pediatrics
• Module 9 – Rehabilitation for Sexual Dysfunctions
• Module 10 – Physical Therapies for Pelvic and Perineal Disorders
• Module 11 – Musculoskeletal Disorders of the Lumbar-Pelvic Region
• Module 12 – Professional and Legal Aspects of the Pelvic and Perineal Physical Therapist
• Module 13 – Rehabilitation of Perineal Disorders in Sports
• Module 14 – Approach to and Treatment of Pelvic Pain
• Module 15 – Assessment and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Applications in Pelvic and Perineal Disorders

The purpose of the master’s program is to provide a training curriculum designed to equip students with the theoretical and practical skills necessary for the treatment of pelvic floor disorders.
The program is designed to provide students with the appropriate and consistent skills and competencies needed to address the most common pelvic floor dysfunction issues encountered in physical therapy through multidisciplinary clinical reasoning, enabling them to address problems affecting both the anterior and posterior compartments.
The goal is to acquire technical knowledge and skills in visceral physical therapy, as well as clinical reasoning, in order to interpret findings and develop a treatment plan within the rehabilitation team. All of this is aimed at identifying the individual’s physical, psychological, and social needs. 

The master's program lasts one year, for a total of 1,500 hours, corresponding to 60 academic credits.
Attendance at the Master’s program is mandatory. To earn the degree, each participant must attend at least 70% of the class hours and 100% of the internship hours.
At the end of the training program, there will be a final exam consisting of a project on one of the topics covered during the course.
The degree to be awarded by the University of Foggia is a Level I Master’s degree in “Rehabilitation of Pelvic and Perineal Dysfunctions.”
This degree has academic standing and requires the completion of 60 CFU as part of the student’s academic program.

The Master’s program is open to anyone who holds a three-year bachelor’s degree in physical therapy, a single-cycle degree in Medicine and Surgery, or a degree earned under the regulations in effect prior to Ministerial Decree 509/99, and/or equivalent qualifications.
