H2-DIA. How to increase scientific dissemination, drive AI innovation, and advance academic tuition through visual tools

The H2-DIA Winter School is a training opportunity dedicated to PhD students and professionals working in academia and education, aimed at exploring the role of visual technologies and image-based communication in educational contexts. The event explores how the use of images, graphics, videos, augmented reality, and digital tools can transform teaching methods, learning activities and scientific dissemination processes. Through theoretical sessions, practical workshops, round tables and a mini hackathon, participants
will have the opportunity to interact with experts in the field, develop innovative skills and acquire tools to make education more engaging, inclusive, and customised.

The aims of the Winter School are:
 Consolidation of different professional profiles: the Winter School enables the participants to develop transferable skills encompassing the fields of artificial intelligence, scientific communication and academic tuition. PhD students from different disciplinary fields will be able to enrich their professional background with technological and pedagogical skills, strengthening their profiles in education, technology and communication in order to respond to the needs of the current and future labour market.

 Meeting cultural and educational needs: the Winter School addresses a growing need for continuing professional development in the remit of AI, inclusion, and customised tuition, which are key elements for educational institutions at local, national, and international levels. By providing insights into emerging and innovative fields of study, the event enables the participants to keep pace with the rapid changes taking place in a digital society, offering continuing education pathways that respond to the demand for technological and intercultural skills.

 Highly specialised professionals traineeship: the interdisciplinary approach of the Winter School contributes to the training formation of experts with a strong international orientation, who are ready to respond to the global challenges posed by digitalisation and inclusion. The participants will acquire specific skills in AI
applied to tuition and communication as specialised professionals capable of operating in innovative and multicultural educational contexts and contributing to the development of inclusive solutions on a global scale.

 Enhancing professional expertise and research traineeship: through theoretical and practical sessions, the participants are encouraged to develop advanced analytical and research skills. Interaction with experts and discussion during dedicated workshops enables PhD students to refine their applied research skills, contributing to the development of their professional expertise and fostering a critical and innovative approach to the use of AI in teaching and learning processes.

The Course offers the participants an educational training programme consisting of different and integrated activities, structured as follows:
 Lectures: 10 hours
 Workshops: 1.5 hours
 Practical exercises: 1 hour
 

Attendance at the Course is compulsory for at least 9 hours. Activities will be held in person in Accadia.
 

At the end of the training activities, a final assessment will be held, consisting of a presentation summarising the work carried out during the three days of the Winter School, with particular reference to the workshop activities.
 

In order to be admitted to the final assessment, candidates must submit a specific degree application, together with payment of the relevant virtual stamp duty (€32.00), through the PagoPA system, by accessing their personal page under the section Student Administration → Payments.
 

The participants who attend the Course and successfully pass the final examination will be issued a Participation Certificate.

The Winter School is open to anyone holding a Master’s Degree or a Specialist Degree, obtained under the academic system in force prior to Ministerial Decree 509/99 (i.e. the old university system degree) or an equivalent qualification.

An additional requirement is current enrolment in a PhD programme, which must be declared by completing the relevant Google Form through the link that will subsequently be published on the Course webpage.
