The University of Foggia’s integrated career guidance and professional placement system is structured as an integrated system aimed at promoting the well-being of students as individuals and citizens.

Guidance is understood as a narrative educational and vocational process centred on the student’s personal characteristics and needs, aimed at fostering a dual comprehension attitude towards oneself and the surrounding  context, in order to promote one’s individual well-being and happiness.

The motto “take care above all” is an invitation to students to “take care of themselves first” throughout their high school and university pathway, setting aside time and space for self-care while studying. In so doing, they will discover and develop their potential and talents, as a means to fulfil the three fundamental psychological needs connected to professional development and well-being: competence, autonomy, and relatedness.

In line with this approach, the career guidance practices and initiatives designed at  university level by the Guidance & Placement Office in collaboration with the Career Development Centre and the Skills Assessment and Career Guidance Centre, are aimed at achieving the following objectives:

• facilitate the transition from high school to university with a view to full integration into the university environment;
• guide and support students throughout their entire university experience, emphasizing the importance of peer modelling practises;
• prevent university dropouts and promote academic success through the ongoing support of tutors and Peer Career Advisors (PCAs);
• train students to acquire and develop key soft skills and professional management skills through training workshops (LABS) and other professional guidance activities;
• retain students and promote their employability through highly customised guidance services aimed at devising an effective career-oriented educational growth plan.
