The University of Foggia’s integrated career guidance and placement system is structured around a vision of career guidance as an integrated and complex system aimed at promoting the well-being of students, individuals, and citizens.

Guidance is understood as an educational, vocational, and narrative process centered on the student’s personal characteristics and needs, aimed at fostering a dual understanding (self and context) capable of promoting the individual’s well-being and happiness.

The motto “Take care before” is an invitation to students to “take care of themselves first,” throughout their high school and college years, to set aside time and space for self-care (not just for studying), through which they can uncover their potential, develop their talents, and fulfill the three fundamental psychological needs for professional development and well-being: competence, autonomy, and relatedness.

In line with this approach, the career guidance practices and initiatives designed at the university level by the Guidance & Placement Office, in collaboration with the Career Development Center and the Skills Assessment and Career Guidance Center, are aimed at achieving the following objectives:

• to facilitate the transition (from high school to college) and integration into the college environment
• guide and support students throughout their entire college experience, emphasizing the importance of peer guidance and modeling
• prevent college dropouts and promote academic success through the ongoing support of tutors and peer career advisors (PCA)
• train students to acquire and develop key soft skills and career management skills through training workshops (LABS) and career guidance instruction
• retain students and promote employability through highly personalized guidance services aimed at effective career planning and the development of an educational and professional growth plan
