Learning objectives

The course aims to provide an in-depth understanding of non-plaque-related periodontal diseases, focusing on diagnostic classification, differential diagnosis, and the management of prevention and follow-up programs.
Through a multidisciplinary approach, the course aims to prepare participants to recognize and effectively manage—within the scope of their expertise—the aspects mentioned above, thereby improving
and thus patients' overall oral health and quality of life.
The specific objectives of the course are the correct definition and classification of various periodontal conditions not related to plaque, the recognition of their signs and symptoms, and a thorough understanding of the role of the dental hygienist in the multidisciplinary management of patients with these conditions.
Specific attention will be given to the implementation of primary and secondary prevention strategies aimed, respectively, at improving early diagnosis and promoting the maintenance of
in the long term, reducing the impact on quality of life.
Finally, communication skills will be enhanced to explain diagnoses and treatment plans to patients and to foster effective collaboration with other oral health professionals for an integrated approach to patient care.

Organizzazione del corso

This course offers participants an educational and training program consisting of various integrated methods, structured as follows:

  • Lectures: 36 hours (6 CFU)

Attendance at the course is mandatory for 70% of the scheduled hours.
At the end of the training program, there will be a final exam consisting of a written assignment on topics covered during the training.
Those who have attended the course and passed the final exam will receive a certificate of participation and 7 CFU credits.

Admission requirements

The Advanced Training Course is open to anyone who holds a bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene or a degree earned under the regulations in effect prior to Ministerial Decree 509/99 (V.O. degree), or equivalent qualifications.
