Pediatric Dentistry

The course aims to provide the theoretical and practical foundations necessary for training modern pediatric dentists and is intended both for dentists who wish to deepen and update their skills and for those interested in exploring the topics covered, given their great relevance today. In fact, the role of the pediatric dentist is becoming increasingly important in today’s medical landscape, given the growing expertise required in this specific field, which ranges from prevention to conservative, interceptive, and surgical care.
Therefore, general topics related to the management of pediatric patients will be addressed from an interdisciplinary perspective, beginning with the initial visit and continuing through the stages of diagnosis and treatment prescription, up to more specific topics concerning both common pathologies of the hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity and less well-known conditions, such as those affecting young patients with disabilities or rare diseases. The course will also cover the fundamentals of pediatric dental traumatology, as well as specific medico-legal guidelines regarding the legal protection of minors in the field of dentistry.
All course topics will be addressed using a consistently evidence-based approach, grounded in the most up-to-date scientific literature and endorsed by scholars and clinicians in the field.
Course participants will be introduced to modern techniques and new materials used in pediatric dentistry. The course will also cover issues related to managing pediatric emergencies in the dental office, ranging from emergencies that can be treated with medication to more complex cases, including basic life support and defibrillation.

This course offers participants an educational and training program consisting of various integrated methods, structured as follows:

• Lectures: 78 hours (13 CFU)

Attendance at the course is mandatory for 70% of the scheduled hours.
At the end of the training program, there will be a final exam consisting of a written assignment on topics covered during the training.
Those who have attended the course and passed the final exam will receive a certificate of participation and 17 CFU credits.

The Advanced Training Course is open to anyone who holds a master’s degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, in Medicine and Surgery, a specialization in Odontostomatology or Pediatrics, or a degree obtained under the regulations in effect prior to Ministerial Decree 509/99 (V.O. degree), or equivalent qualifications.
