Pain Therapy and Palliative Care

The Course aims to provide rapid “basic” and “advanced” traineeships on two central topics:

 the definition, the pathophysiology, and the pharmacological and non- pharmacological treatment of chronic pain;
 the definition and the implementation of early and late palliative care, including the management of the most complex symptoms.
 

The Course will take place over four days of study, each divided into two sessions (eight sessions in total), each of which will focus on a specific aspect of the selected topic. Each session, chaired by a university lecturer or an expert physician, will consist of four presentations held by scholars in the field and will conclude with a discussion.

The Course offers participants an educational training programme consisting of different and integrated formats, structured as follows:
 Lectures: 16 hours (2 academic credits)
 Practical exercises: 16 hours (2 academic credits)

Attendance of 85% of the scheduled hours is compulsory. At the end of the training activities, the participants will undergo a final assessment, consisting of a multiple-choice test on one of the topics addressed during the Course.

To be admitted to the final assessment, candidates must submit a specific application, along with the payment of the relevant virtual stamp duty (€32.00), through the PagoPA system, by accessing their personal page under the section Secretariat → Payments.
 

Participants who attend the Course and pass the final examination will be awarded a Participation Certificate and 4 academic credits.

The Advanced Training Course is open to all those holding a Master's Degree in Medicine and Surgery or a degree obtained under the regulations preceding Ministerial Decree 509/99 or an equivalent qualification.
