Expert in personal data management in the public and private sectors

The Professional Development and Continuing Education Course, accredited by the KHC Certification Body, aims to train experts in personal data management (Data Protection Officers, in accordance with the UNI 11697:2017 standard), who are capable of understanding and assessing the risks associated with the processing of personal data in the digital environment, setting up and managing secure digital data processing systems, and addressing threats in the digital environment that could compromise the security of personal data. 

The issue of data security on the Internet represents a new challenge for the public administration. As is well known, the recent EU Regulation 2016/679 (transposed by Legislative Decree 101/2018) has required the public administration to exercise effective control over the processing of the data in its possession, and it also provides for the introduction of new professional roles, including the Data Protection Officer (DPO), the Privacy Manager, the Privacy Specialist, and the Privacy Assessor. 

The GDPR imposes new requirements and methodologies, in accordance with the principles of “privacy by design” and “privacy by default”: from risk assessments for data processing to impact assessments, from the record of processing activities to the inventory of databases containing personal data. The data controller must demonstrate that it has implemented—and keeps up to date—the new technical and organizational measures, by monitoring individual compliance requirements, documenting the decisions made, and verifying the actual application of the new rules by the various parties involved both within and outside the Administration.

This training program offers participants an educational and training curriculum consisting of various integrated methods, structured as follows: 

Distance learning courses (70 hours); 

Practical Exercises (10 hours). 

Attendance at the course is mandatory for at least 90% of the hours specified in the course syllabus. 

2.5 CFU credits will be awarded to those who have earned the “Junior Specialist in Privacy” certification—that is, to students who have passed the exam for the course “Confidentiality and Processing of Personal Data,” offered by the Department of Law (12 CFU), and have completed a 6-month internship at companies specializing in the privacy sector. 

At the end of the training activities, there will be a final exam consisting of a multiple-choice test to be taken online in real time on one of the topics covered during the course.  

Those who attend the course and pass the final exam will receive a certificate of participation and 10 CFU credits. Furthermore, the course qualifies participants for certification as a Data Protection Officer (DPO), in accordance with the UNI 11697:2017 standard.

The Professional Development and Continuing Education Course is open to anyone who holds a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
