Learning objectives
The Advanced Training Course aims to provide a training program designed to deepen participants’ theoretical and practical knowledge of digital surgery techniques as applied to a wide range of clinical activities in the field of dentistry.
Among the most innovative technologies developed in recent years, piezoelectric surgery has, from the very beginning, demonstrated outstanding characteristics in terms of precision, minimally invasive procedures, and versatility, as it can be easily used in every aspect of daily practice at the dental office.
Piezo-surgery, which utilizes the action of ultrasonic microvibrations produced by specific high-precision inserts, represents a groundbreaking innovation in the field of mineralized tissue surgery, as it can be used across the board for both dental and bone tissues, while fully preserving soft tissues and anatomical structures.
For this reason, this technology—which could be called piezo-dentistry—is finding increasingly widespread use in oral surgery, implantology, as well as in pre-prosthetic and orthodontic surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, periodontology, and regenerative dentistry.
Piezo surgery certainly offers numerous advantages over traditional techniques, which are linked to the specific characteristics of ultrasound. These include extreme precision in cutting—at the micrometer level—greater safety and ease of use, excellent visibility of the surgical field thanks to the cavitation mechanism, along with less tissue trauma and reduced discomfort for the patient.
Organizzazione del corso
The course will be divided into 7 separate modules, each of which will consist of an in-person or online lecture, during which the instructors will cover the proposed topics, followed by a final discussion to clarify any practical, technical, or clinical aspects.
Each module will be supplemented by a hands-on section using an animal model or a stereolithographic model, during which the residents will have the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned during the theoretical lectures.
Admission requirements
A degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, or a degree in Medicine and Surgery with registration in the Dental License Registry, and/or specialists in Odontostomatology or Maxillofacial Surgery.
