Dental Implantology

The Level II Master’s Program in “Implantology” is divided into six modules that will cover the following topics:

• Module 1
  Surgical Anatomy, Radiology, Pharmacology, and Anesthesiology
• Module 2
  Oral Implantology for Single-Tooth, Partial, and Complete Edentulism
• Module 3
  Regenerative Bone Surgery and the Use of Biomaterials
• Module 4
  Zygomatic Surgery. Guided Surgery. Navigated Surgery
• Module 5
  Periodontal and Pre-prosthetic Surgery. Maxillary Sinus Surgery
• Module 6
  Implant-Supported Prostheses. Emergency Management: Medical-Legal Aspects, New Technologies, and New Materials.

The Master’s program aims to provide an in-depth exploration of the various techniques and clinical aspects of modern implantology, as well as highlighting the biological aspects that make it an innovative and predictable tool for dentists to achieve successful rehabilitation of single, multiple, or total edentulism.

The Master’s program, therefore, aims to provide a training curriculum designed to deepen participants’ theoretical and practical knowledge of osseointegrated implantology techniques and advanced oral surgery within the wide range of clinical activities relevant to dentistry. Among the most innovative technologies developed in recent years, implant, regenerative, piezoelectric, navigation-guided, periodontal, and digital surgery have immediately demonstrated significant advantages by improving precision, reducing invasiveness, and increasing the predictability of outcomes in dentistry.

This course is designed for professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of advanced oral surgery in the field of implantology, with the aim of professionally addressing patients’ growing demands regarding aesthetics and the speed of treatment, minimally invasive procedures, and short-, medium-, and long-term therapeutic success in implant-based oral rehabilitation.

The master’s program lasts one year, for a total of 1,500 hours, corresponding to 60 academic credits (CFU), and will be structured as follows:

• Lectures: 114 hours + 361 hours of independent study (19 CFU);
• Distance Learning Courses: 90 hours + 285 hours of independent study (15 CFU);
• Laboratories: 12 hours + 38 hours of independent study (2 CFU);
• Practical exercises: 12 hours + 38 hours of independent study (2 CFU);
• Internship: 100 hours (4 CFU).

Attendance at the Master’s program is mandatory. To earn the degree, each participant must attend at least 70% of the instructional hours listed above. Enrolled students will take midterm assessments at the end of each module. At the conclusion of the program, there will be a final exam consisting of a thesis defense on one of the topics covered in the course and the internship completed.

The degree to be awarded by the University of Foggia is a Second-Level Master’s Degree in “Implantology.”
This degree has academic standing and requires the completion of 62 CFU during the course of study.

The Master’s program is open to anyone who holds a Master’s degree—whether earned under the regulations in effect prior to Ministerial Decree 509/99 or under the current regulations—in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, Medicine and Surgery, or equivalent degrees.
