CUS - University Sports Centre
Centro Sportivo Universitario

CUS Foggia - Centro Universitario Sportivo di Foggia (i.e. the University Sports Centre) - offers sports and recreational initiatives and activities at its facilities for university students, the university teaching and technical staff, and all local sportsmen and sportswomen, in order to encourage healthy physical activity and stimulating socialisation.

The CUS was officially established in May 2003 with the first assembly that appointed Professor Giacomo Zanni as its first president, an extraordinary Professor and lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Foggia, but also an expert sportsman who had already been a councillor of the local CUS in Parma in the past.

Shortly afterwards, the association's first headquarters for the organisation of institutional activities opened to the public at the new administrative building of the University of Foggia in Via Gramsci.

Since the 2007-08 academic year, the CUS has been managing the new university sports facilities located in via Napoli n. 109 in Foggia, near the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, in total synergy with the University and the Province of Foggia.

In January 2012, prof. Dario Colella was elected as the second president of the CUS Foggia's short history by the assembly of CUS Foggia members, convened to appoint the new officers for 2012-2014. He is a lecturer in Methods and Teaching of Sports Activities for the degree programme in Motor and Sport Activities Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine in Foggia, an expert in sports and a man of learning, with several years' experience at the local CUS in Salento.

Claudio Amorese was appointed president of CUS Foggia in March 2015. A native of Foggia and a former footballer, he graduated from the University of Foggia with a degree in ‘Business Economics’, was for some years an official of the Italian Revenue Agency and, since June 2015, Councillor for Economic Activities of the Municipality of Foggia. The organisational chart of Cus Foggia, for the three-year period 2015-2018, was made up of President Claudio Amorese, Vice-President Maria Assunta Doddi and Treasurer-Secretary Claudio D'Agnello, while the Rector's contact person, with the position of Deputy Vice-President, was Prof. Mario Pio Fuiano.

In May 2019, Amorese was unanimously re-elected, and on the same date, the Assembly also elected Claudio D'Agnello, Maria Assunta Doddi, Laurenzo Longo and Andrea Marino as members of the Executive Board for the four-year period 2019-2022.

All activities take place twice a week (with the exception of the karate course, which takes place three times a week) and are run by qualified technicians and trainers with a degree in Motor and Sport Activities Sciences.

Promotional prices and concessions for second children, children of employees of the University of Foggia, the Municipality of Foggia, the University Hospital Trust (OO.RR.) and the Province of Foggia are offered.

We would like to remind you that the Sports Centre of the University of Foggia is a Centre for Sports Initiation officially recognised by CONI - the Italian National Olympic Committee.
